Welcome to Annaleigh Acres, Equine Assisted Learning Center
Equine Assisted Learning is an experiential based approach to learning life skills using horses. Participants explore and put into practice life skills such as communication, leadership, confidence, decision making and teamwork skills. While not a riding program, participants will work together with the horse on the ground to learn about themselves as individuals and as team players. We are located in Cannington, Ontario.
Why horses as teachers?
Horses are prey animals and therefore sensitive animals who are always aware of their surroundings. As herd animals they depend on leadership to survive. In day to day interactions, horses are always looking for clear leadership. They ask for the same type of leader that we look for, constantly seeking clear and confident communication, empathy, and kindness. When they get what it is they are asking of us as leaders, they let us know and when they don't, they encourage us to change our style in order to become the effective communicator they are yearning for, providing participants with immediate feedback and opportunity for growth.
About Me
I am so glad you are here! Allow me to introduce myself. Annaleigh Acres, Equine Assisted Learning Center is owned and operated by Alikee Beach. I have been a horse enthusiast and rider since I was a child myself. I spent my youth as a barn rat - spending endless hours at the barn working in every capacity - as long as horses were involved! I learned early on about the magic of the horse, and their natural therapeutic ways. Moving forward to my adult years, I am an elementary school teacher in the GTA. I currently work as a Special Education Resource Teacher, where I am blessed every day to work with amazing students.
Annaleigh Acres is a dream come true for me. It has always been my greatest wish to combine my two passions, teaching and horses into a career... and here it is! I look forward to sharing with you how horses can inspire you to grow into your best self.
