Now more than ever, our youth are challenged to develop strong leadership skills in order to prepare them for our ever changing world. As parents and teachers we recognize the importance of communication skills, confidence, respect, integrity, grit, creative thinking, responsibility and team work in the development of confident and capable leaders. At Annaleigh Acres, Equine Assisted Learning Center, this is precisely what we are working to develop.
Students will work together in teams to learn about themselves as individuals and to harness and cultivate the skills they require for future success. The goals they achieve in their sessions will link to their own experiences at school, home and in our communities.
By including horses as a part of the team, trained facilitators are able to observe the non-verbal communication of the horses to guide and encourage the learner to attain the outcome of each exercise. The immediacy of the feedback of the horse encourages rapid growth in character development so as to find success within each obstacle provided. In turn, seeing how a simple change in communication skills provides access to success allows the participant to reflect on the importance of these new found skills and how they will continue to benefit from them beyond the arena.

Oral communication, non verbal communication - both are important in effective communicators. Learn how to communicate more efficiently through hands on exercises that improve active listening, demonstrate the power of body language, and guide you to speak with confidence!
The ability to collaborate is of utmost importance when working within a team setting. Learn the art of teamwork while working together with your peers... and the other member of your team... the HORSE!
The ability to think creatively is imperative to developing problem solving skills. Participants are encouraged to think outside the box to solve a variety of obstacles with their horse - gaining valuable feedback along the way to encourage their creativity!.
Horses demand confident leadership. Their honest feedback will push you to find your inner voice. Their loving and calm demeanours will encourage you to push yourself and find your inner warrior.
Working with horses is always a partnership - they require mutual trust and respect to follow your lead. They encourage us to trust our human partners as they model this important life skill to us in each and every task - reminding us of the power of trust and respect.
